Integrated teaching Session, Topic: Jaundice

 Integrated Teaching Seminar on Jaundice was conducted on 22 December 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lecture Gallery-1, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College (KYAMC). The seminar was organized as part of the integrated teaching program with the active participation of the Departments of Medicine, Hematology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.

The primary objective of this integrated session was to provide students with a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of jaundice, covering its anatomical basis, physiological mechanisms, biochemical pathways, hematological aspects, and clinical correlations.

The seminar began with an overview of jaundice, including its definition and classification. Faculty members from the Department of Anatomy discussed the anatomical structure of the liver, biliary apparatus, and related pathways. The Department of Physiology explained bilirubin metabolism, hepatic function, and the physiological basis of jaundice. The Department of Biochemistry elaborated on bilirubin formation, conjugation, laboratory investigations, and interpretation of liver function tests. The Department of Hematology addressed hemolytic causes of jaundice and related blood disorders, while the Department of Medicine focused on clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and management strategies of various types of jaundice.

The session was interactive, with active participation from students and faculty members. 

In conclusion, the integrated teaching seminar on jaundice was highly informative and effective, promoting interdisciplinary learning and strengthening the students’ ability to correlate basic medical sciences with clinical application
