Dr. Afshana Moury Shohani is a cardiologist and academic physician currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College & Hospital, Sirajganj, Bangladesh. She has over nine years of clinical and academic experience in cardiovascular medicine, with particular expertise in non-invasive cardiology and emergency cardiac procedures.
Dr. Moury completed her MBBS from Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and later obtained a Diploma in Cardiology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka now called Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). Throughout her career, she has developed strong skills in cardiovascular diagnostics, including transthoracic and color Doppler echocardiography, stress echocardiography, ECG interpretation, Holter monitoring, and exercise tolerance testing.
In her current role, she performs and interprets a heavy number of echocardiographic studies daily and supervises large volumes of ECG assessments, Stress echocardiography, she is also actively involved in the management of outpatient, inpatient, and critical cardiac care patients following international clinical guidelines. Her procedural experience includes temporary pacemaker insertion and pericardiocentesis in emergency cardiac settings.
Dr. Shohani is deeply engaged in medical education and mentorship, teaching both undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate cardiology trainees. She regularly conducts bedside clinical teaching, academic case discussions, and structured lectures to enhance clinical reasoning and practical skills among undergraduate students and post graduate students. For teaching and research purpose she completed training on “Teaching Methodology and Assessment”. She is an active member and trainer of Basic Life Support. She also participates in both national and international seminar and cardiovascular conference.
She has one published research article and is currently involved in 2 ongoing research projects. She is also involved as a Co-Principal investigator in 03 bio equivalence study. Dr. Shohani has also completed multiple specialized echocardiography training programs and holds certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Through her clinical practice, teaching, and research activities, Dr. Shohani remains committed to improving cardiovascular care and advancing medical education. She is a proud member of American College of Cardiology.
